Port Strike in India
Five major federations of port and dock workers have threatened an indefinite strike
Dear All our Valued Clients,

This is to keep you informed that five major federations of port and dock workers have threatened an indefinite strike from March 10 to press for wage revision and other benefits. Port and Dock workers representing 66,000 workers of 11 major ports in the country have served notice to go on indefinite strike from March 10th demanding 35 per cent of pay hike for proposed wage settlement before the commencement of the forthcoming India elections to be held in phases this April / May.

Though the unions are in serious discussion with the Government on the same there is still an uncertainty to the whole situation and we have not yet received any official communications fm the Trade Bodies on the confirmation of this strike as all hope the Govt will have this resolved amicably - However we would like to alert you on this so that you could advise your customers on this proposed threat and any urgent shipments by sea could be replanned by them as per their window dates.
